When we express our thoughts, then they are highly influenced by an immediate input to our consciousness or recent experience of the past few days or weeks. This is because of the limitation of conscious memory. Unless we do a rehearsal of information, we tend to forget it. Sometimes forgetting is useful like forgetting painful events in life. But this phenomenon is applied equally, so we also forget the best of our life.
Our conscious memory has limitations to recall but this information is safely stored in our subconscious memory. Though it’s stored in the subconscious mind, it also has a limitation as it reacts or gives input when we seek related information. Then it fetches the information file from the past & gives the inputs or references to us.
The forgetting curve hypothesizes the decline of memory retention in time. This curve shows how information is lost over time when there is no attempt to retain it. Spending time each day to remember information will greatly decrease the effects of the forgetting curve. Some learning consultants claim reviewing the material in the first 24 hours after learning information is the optimum time to actively recall the content and reset the forgetting curve. (Wikipedia)
Your Consciousness
If I ask you to freely express your thoughts then most likely it will be influenced by your recent experience like some family matter, office matter or some news which you have read or watched in this week. We forget so many good things that happened to us or which we have read, listened to.
In such a case, our life remains neutral. Year on year, we keep on living continuously like this. When new changes happen in our life, we become excited. But this excitement does not last long. Once it becomes routine we fall on the old trap. This is one of the most prominent reasons for not achieving success or great success in life.
Another side is having short-term and long-term goals. If you have those goals in your mind then all the related experiences/thoughts will come into your mind. Even the thoughts will be of a higher level than your current consciousness. This is what is the power of your subconscious mind. It has seen a much bigger view of the world which you have not noticed. It has storage of all the information of your life from the beginning of your life to till now. All the information of whatever you have seen, touched, smell, hear and taste. Even if that hearing is when you were sleeping.
Professional and Business Life
What happens when you are ready to change your mindset by improving consciousness. Let’s understand this with the following examples.
If your current income range is 35k. If you continue living like this, then your income will rise with an average proportion. It is very difficult to increase the income dramatically in professional life with your current mindset. Which is the actual case with the majority of the people. But if set your target for 50k or 100k, then you will attract bigger ideas to increase your income. These may be by higher education, or search for better jobs and switch over or demanding for higher responsibility in your existing company.
If you are doing business, then make your one prototype business model successful. Start generating income from it. Once you achieve that, then you can plan to leverage it. This is one of the best strategies to grow your income exponentially. This is being practiced by successful entrepreneurs. Also, if you are already running a successful business, then you can implement other ideas by starting another business. Caution! If without making your first venture profitable, you start a second venture, then you may likely fall into the debt trap. To avoid this and focus on your first venture execution strategies to make it profitable.
This type of entrepreneur is called a serial entrepreneur. Some of the best examples of serial entrepreneurs are Steve Jobs, Warren Buffett, Sir Richard Branson, Elon Musk, Oprah Winfrey. It is not that each of their ventures runs in profit, especially at an early stage. But the important point is, they learn from failures, take corrective actions to improve their existing venture, and take care of these points in their next venture. Don’t you think their income rises exponentially?
A Real-Life Short Story
I was shocked after hearing the interesting education journey of my colleague just six months back. We both were working in one of India’s best engineering companies. You know there is a huge cost involved in doing Engineering. But what if somebody says to you that he had completed his engineering from a reputed university FREE OF COST. And for your kind information, he was not a reservation quote candidate to have any specific advantage.
I asked him ‘How did he do this?’ Then he explained that he did his engineering at Jadavpur University, Kolkata. This university was having a scheme for free education for high-ranking students.
Jadavpur University is a public technical and research university located in Jadavpur, Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It was established in 1905 as Bengal Technical Institute and was converted into Jadavpur University in 1955. In 2020, it was ranked fifth among universities in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework. (Wikipedia)
When he was preparing for engineering entrance, then his coaching centre was having a counselor. He used to guide students about various engineering entrance exams, fees structures, criteria to qualify for special schemes like free education across India. He had taken a hint from there to raise his consciousness for preparing accordingly.
This interaction happened on his last working day in the company. He was going for a Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Quality, Reliability & Operations Research (QROR) from Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata.
This is a full-time two-year programme and is offered only at Kolkata. It is intended to produce specialists in Statistical Quality Control, Reliability, Operations Research, and Quality Management Systems. Enough background on computing technologies is provided to enable the students to use technology effectively.
The best part was this time again, it was FREE OF COST.
Fulfill Your Dream
I have shared the above example of how one can raise the bar of his or her mindset. Your dedication or hard work is of prime importance, but without having correct information, you may be trapped in the costly education system. To fulfill your dream, you may be requiring an education loan. To achieve a common goal, there are several ways available. Discuss with experts in the field, they will save you a lot of time and cost.
Raise your consciousness, when you are having confusion about your future education stream or course. Remember ‘Tata Sky’ Advertising which goes like “POOCHHNE MAIN KYA JATA HAI” (nothing to lose by asking). I personally use this on several occasions and get benefitted.
