A well-known fact about the mind is, whatever thought you feed to it, it shows you the ways to support that thought. So it is very essential to train your mind for ‘both’ not for ‘either-on’. But the reality is just the opposite. How do parents respond to their children when children demand something?
Most of the time they converted that situation into a condition. Like if you want this, then you need to do this. There are plenty of examples as if a kid asks for a toy, mom asks the kid to behave in a gentle way, then only the kid can have a toy. Or If the kid asks for the cycle, again one condition of having good grades in the exam. We generally surrounded by so many conditions around us to get something.
The fact is these conditions do not leave behind us even when we become adults, start earning, got married, then kids so on so forth. We are programmed with these conditions throughout our life at every life stage in most situations.
What is the Impact of this Conditional Programming?
Before moving on let’s understand interesting facts about thoughts. The average person has about 48.6 thoughts per minute, according to the Laboratory of Neuro Imaging at the University of South California. That adds up to a total of 70,000 thoughts per day. There is one most powerful body part, which keeps on recording each and every thought irrespective of type, be it positive or negative. We call it our subconscious mind.
We instantly remember the thoughts in a given situation which is having any emotions attached to it. Like if we are having happy moments, then if we recall all the series of happy moments reflection in our mind instantly. Within a fraction of a second as all these are stored in our subconscious mind which is basically many more times powerful in processing than a supercomputer.
When we spend our early life with so many conditional thoughts, then these thoughts become our part of our life and control broadly each of our action. We start behaving & acting conditionally in a given situation and also start expecting the same thing from others.
Similarly, when we have two choices and asked to make one as a final, a similar type of conditional pattern follows in our mind. Like parents ask kid, which toys you want Doll or Car; which fruit Apple or Banana. For adults, it goes like, this year either Bike or Mobile. While shopping, either this dress or that dress. We are having various types of Either-Or situations in life & how we act, by choosing anyone.
With this method, we are blocking our capabilities in long run, we are limiting our self not to explore both options. It’s a matter of fact that we are giving all these instructions continuously to our subconscious mind.
This subconscious mind is so powerful that it can change your own decision even when you are having the ‘Both’ option. It will leave you with only one option by implementing either-or as this is your default setting. Once your conscious mind is busy somewhere, you are in 100 % control of your subconscious mind.
I shall share one example of a car driving here. When we start learning car driving, in the very early days a high level of focus required to understand all the necessary aspects of car driving. If any person asks you to talk to him while driving, will you? No, you will not agree with that person as your conscious mind is dominating on learning at this stage.
In the early days of learning, the subconscious mind is capturing each and everything which one can get with 5 main senses: Vision, Hearing, Smell, Touch & Taste. But at the same time, it’s also capturing all the emotional feelings like excitement, anxiety, happiness, fear, etc. All these feelings are now associated with this complete experience of car driving.
Once you learned to drive the car, what happens when you are talking to someone and at the same time driving the car very smoothly. Even if somebody crossroad, you only automatically reduces car speed and apply brakes without any worry. What happens now, why this drastic change with respect to the initial day’s experience?
The reason is when your conscious mind is busy talking to somebody while driving, your subconscious mind takes full control of driving. This mind gives instruction to your hand or leg to control the car.
The same things happen in other situations as well, when our conscious mind got busy, and we are in a dilemma of choice, our subconscious mind takes over fully and by default run a program of ‘Either-Or’ instead of ‘Both’.
Way Ahead to Have ‘Both’ Choice (Feed to mind)
We all know the benefits of keeping the ‘Both’ option instead of ‘Either-Or’. Now we need to replace our old conditional programming with new programming. As we know that subconscious power is neutral, it doesn’t understand what is right, what is wrong, what is positive, what is negative.
But our conscious mind understands all these right/wrong/positive/negative, so we shall take the help of our conscious mind to reprogram our subconscious mind thoughts. We have to train our mind for both options again and again.
At the same time, we need to add feeling in this new thought process as without feeling we shall not be able to gain any benefit. In fact, it will happen that you are repeatedly thinking of ‘Both’ option but ended up in ‘Either-Or’ and feeling clueless about the root cause. It will take time, but you will get the result for sure.
This subconscious mind only will suggest to you the ways on How to have ‘Both’. This mind is so much powerful either way, it can improve your life as heaven or make your life like hell. Now the choice is yours on how to train this.
Your conscious mind is powerful enough to filter thousands of thoughts, to only have positive, growth-oriented though to enter in the subconscious mind. If some negative thought comes into the conscious mind, then it’s our responsibility to nullify these thoughts and replace them with more powerful positive thoughts.
Either Home or Car while doing a job in the early stage of career, train your mind like ‘why not both’; ask your subconscious mind to provide solution on ‘how to achieve both of them in the early stage of career. Not be surprised when you got the answer.
